We have recently undertaken projects with several GP Practice collaboratives  and Super Partnerships to support them in driving efficiency gains throughout their support functions and subsequently reduce costs.  Our most recent work has seen us support the Modality Partnership (Birmingham) in an ambitious programme of  growth and organisational development that has delivered substantial cost and efficiency savings across the organisation and have previously scoped out a similar project for the Hurley Group (London).  We primarily approached these projects by assessing the activities that the various outlets/practices undertake on a daily basis, made evidence based recommendations as to how these could be centralised.  At Modality we additionally managed the associated change management/HR processes to make it a reality, working closely with clinicians, management and staff throughout.  Both the Modality Partnership  and The Hurley Group have been referenced as case studies in the recent Nuffield Trust publication ‘New models of primary care: practical lessons from early implementers’.

Within Modality we undertook a detailed analysis of the functions they provided to support the patient journey including referrals, scanning, GP links, specialist services, registrations etc and submitted a compelling business case as to how they could be centralised. Following executive approval we managed the change process in partnership with senior clinicians and management, working closely with employees to minimise cost and maximise benefits. This resulted in a reduction in headcount and a new way of doing things that improved the experience for staff and patients alike. A key benefit of our work was that we identified key potential governance issues that the Partnership were able to strengthen immediately which also supported CQC compliance.

More recently we have been involved in providing HR expertise to deliver a full change mangement programme to ensure smooth transition of new Practices joining the Partnerhsip as part of ambitious growth plans, from due diligence to merger.
